When one reviews Mark Chronister’s professional involvements over the past forty years, a very clear pattern emerges. He has successfully bridged business, education and nonprofit service in unusual and consistent ways. Whether serving clients or as a board member, Chronister’s leadership skills have been both tapped and challenged. He has frequently been selected as board chair of organizations dependent on truly good governance. Chronister spent most of his career serving financial services and higher education institutions with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he worked for 34 years. Many of those years were as the Minneapolis Office managing partner and industry leader.

Chronister’s higher education involvement began as one of the few partners to work with companies serving the student loan industry. Mark also was the engagement partner for higher education institutions including the University of Minnesota, the University of St. Thomas, Creighton and William Mitchell College of Law. In the auditing field, he was known as an honest and helpful partner who could deal with challenges both tactfully and directly. His leadership and strategic contributions led to board chair roles with St. Catherine University, The University of Nebraska Foundation (currently chair-elect), the Minneapolis Foundation, the Minneapolis Downtown Council and the Academy of Holy Angels. He served in key committee chairs with the Minnesota Private College Council, KIPP Minnesota/Stand Academy and the Minnesota Business Partnership.

Chronister is an advocate of sophisticated research and knows how to integrate research results into policy and strategy. Throughout his career, he has been an advocate of financial integrity, honesty and openness. He brings to Templeton Laird proven leadership and well-honed skills in governance, strategy and financial management.

Mark and his wife, Jane, reside in Bloomington, Minnesota and have two daughters.
